The Valley of the Moon Scottish Fiddling School takes place in the northern California redwoods. This year marks the 41st Edition week of intensive study, recreation, and good times with people who share an interest in the music and dance traditions of Scotland and beyond.

Usually every 1st and 3rd Tuesday from 6-8pm, we’ll be raising a glass and our bows to share favorite tunes from the Celtic/Scandinavian/Old Time repertoire. Maybe you’ve got a sweet original composition tucked away? Or there’s a rollicking reel you just can’t get enough of? This is the place to let ‘em rip!
The vibe will be low-key and highly improvisational based on who shows up ready to play. One thing’s for sure - the beer hall’s long benches will be filled with fiddling, strumming, and some whistling.
Not a player yourself? No prob! Grab a pint and some pizza and cozy up for an evening of free, rousing live music. Puzzles and crafts are especially fun while enjoying some tasty tunes!

Join Ladies Loe for our monthly tune workshop (in person and on Zoom!) Hosted by cellists Erin Esses and Clea Johnson, we focus on the special world of the cello in fiddle music, but all instruments are welcome! It’s a welcoming and encouraging environment to learn a tune (and it’s accompaniment) by ear! The workshops are by donation and usually take place on the first Saturday of the month at 10am and run for roughly 90 minutes. Our summer dates are to be finalized.

Still to be confirmed, but worth putting on the calendar: Calaskan lends their musical talents at the Skagit Valley Highland Games on the first day of the weekend. The Games are great fun for the whole family, and run all weekend (July 13th and 14th from 9am-5pm both days). Definitely not to be missed! And just a friendly local tip… volunteers get in for free. =]

The culmination of a week long fiddle camp in the Sierra foothills. The Ceilidh in the Park is a spectacular show put on by all the attendees and features the amazing teachers and performers from Sierra Fiddle Camp.
Erin is teaching at Alasdair Fraser’s Sierra Fiddle Camp. A magical week long gathering of musical community. The camp consists of intensive study, recreation, and good times with people who share an interest in the music and dance traditions of Scotland and beyond.
Erin performs in the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra. Their final concert of the 2024 season will include the works:
